Arrivals prior to 4 PM on Friday may have to wait until all tanks have been properly treated prior to floating bags or releasing koi in the tanks.
  2. Each exhibitor will be assigned a tank by the registration team. Exhibitors having multiple tanks may designate which of their fish go into which tank as long as the tank load criteria is maintained.
  3. Do not float bags in the tanks until you have been assigned a tank and given approval by the registration team. The owner, or agent delivering koi, must remain with the koi until the koi are released into their tank(s).
  4. The exhibitor must be present during the benching and classification.
  5. Digital photos will be taken of each fish during benching at no charge.

All exhibitors must be present at that time to gather and claim their koi. Even though no fish should have been moved out of their assigned tanks, no koi will be allowed to be bagged or removed until all fish are identified to the satisfaction of all entrants, and officially released by the Show Chairman. Out of town exhibitors will be given priority for fish removal and KCSD members will be available to assist them as desired. Oxygen, bags, and rubber bands will be provided.
  10. Any koi not claimed at the conclusion of the show will become the property of KCSD.

Pre-Show Preparations

For the protection of your Koi, feeding should be discontinued 5-7 days prior to the show.

Be sure that your koi are in good health. Koi with any signs of sickness or parasites will be disqualified. Look your fish over carefully top to bottom before you bring them. Fish that have ANY visible sings of injury, parasites or illness should not be transported to the show site. This will include any areas of injury or infection that are not completely healed. The decision of the Show Chairman will be final in this matter.

Judging

Prior to judging, the Show Chairman will verify that all of the koi are entered in their proper class and size. If an error is made, corrections of classification will be made prior to, or during judging if it is possible without disrupting the flow of the show. This will not include reclassifying of gin rin or doitsu. The class placement decision on gin rin and doitsu must be made by the entrant at the time of benching, rather than after viewing the competition.

During the judging, participants may be able to listen to the judges comments from outside the show ring however, all participants and spectators must refrain from communicating with the judges. As in golf, quiet is required in the judging area. All concerns should be directed promptly to the Show Chairman. The decisions of the Judges and the Show Chairman are final.

Classes and Sizes

  1. SIZES: There will be eight class sizes, starting with Under 8", then 8-12", and the following sizes will run in three inch increments with the largest size being Over 27". There are no size limitations of either too small or too large.
