Steve & Sharlyn Rocha's Pond

After caring for a pool and spa for many years that no one in the family used...
pool and spa
...we decided to fill in the pool and planted a small orchard of fruit trees instead.
filling in pool
The 550 gallon spa became a pond which is a fairy tale, water garden surrounded by frogs and angels who watch over eight koi, mainly butterfly and long fin since these are our favorites. We like to water garden so the spa seats became a ledge for little tut papyrus, calla lily and a yellow Louisiana iris that Steve hybridized. This yellow is one of his seedlings. At the bottom we have a white and pink water lily growing and floating are water hyacinth.
small pond with plants
We have twenty minnows and two tall fins. The koi seem to love all the plants. Since we greatly enjoy the pond and the fish, we now want to build a bigger pond.
