PRESIDENT'S MESSAGE
Well, the show is over and the accolades are many. Show chair Kristine Peterson and John Svelan steered us through our 23rd show with apparent ease and no big glitches. Bill Thompson handled the fairgrounds organization with his special skills. The truck and "set up crew" began at 8am Thursday morning and some didn't quit 'til Sunday evening. Gotta love those hardworking guys!
And how about the computer teams Al Pierce, Norm and Suzanne Meck? Gathering all the entrant's pictures, info and keeping the big viewing screen continually operational for 2 days was quite a job. Phyllis Spoor and Sig Porter also did a fine job photographing our show and did y'all see the joey? His Australian owner said it's being groomed as an assistance companion. Look for him on our website "people pictures". Thanks Sig and Phyllis as well as the fabulous folks that made it another success.
Speaking of fabulous folks, an enormous thanks to the businesses that supplied lots of koi for us to admire and purchase, vendors with koi food and equipment that we all need and of course, the fun judging contest and auction. A lot of us went happily home with bags of koi and koi related items. Did you?
Tamsie Pierce is looking for a few good members to man the Koi Information table at the Wild Animal Park on Saturday, April 3rd. Lots of camaraderie and of course, free admission. Let her know you'll be there.
Our next big event is our "look forward to" Koi Auction. Saturday, May 1st is the date at California Koi Farm in Fallbrook. There will be many water jewels to bid on at bargain prices, and it's a good time to bring the wanna-be's and too many koi in your pond to our auction. Along with the joy of viewing, bidding and having lunch, we need volunteers for setup and teardown but you will get a firsthand look at some fine koi for your pond.
A final thought....A fall pond tour is in my thoughts, and I would like some input from all of you as to some locations. I welcome your response with ideas and we'll see if that's a possibility. Email or call me and I'll see you in March.
